What you will be doing...
Jet2.com and Jet2Holidays have a brand-new opening for a Pilot Apprentice Development Manager to help us achieve our ambition to remain the career Airline of choice for Crew. Working with the Crew Development team, the successful applicant will be responsible for the induction, development and performance management of pilots joining our highly regarded Pilot Apprentice Scheme.
Our Pilot Apprentice Development Manager will manage a cohort of 40+ Pilot Apprentices across our 11 UK bases, setting high standards and providing support in the technical and non-technical development of the Apprentices. Additionally, the successful applicant will support the development of future intake requirements for low-hour pilots.
Whilst the post holder does not necessarily need to have been crew, a good understanding of aviation and airline operations would be highly advantageous.
What you will do in the role:
- Responsible for the recruitment and induction of new joiners to the Pilot Apprentice Scheme
- Line management, development and performance management of 'early career' pilots
- Work collaboratively across disciplines to plan and co-ordinate training as well as technical and non-technical development opportunities. Gather feedback and strive for continual improvement
- Set high performance and behavioural expectations for the team. Establish clear performance objectives, and provide meaningful developmental feedback to deliver an engaged, and motivated team
- Work with the Aircrew Manager team to continually develop career opportunities for Pilot Apprentice Scheme participants with reference to wider crew engagement and attraction strategy
- Support and promote wellbeing and provide high lever of welfare support to colleagues in the Pilot Apprentice Scheme, with regular visits to our 11 UK bases to encourage valuable engagement
- Advocate for the Jet2 Take Me There values whilst promoting safety and a 'Just' working culture
- People management, ideally within an airline, transport or operational environment
- Working across disciplines and stakeholder management
- Performance management including supporting and managing performance within a remote, multi-site workforce
