Job description
We are looking for an experienced picture framer to join our team on a part-time basis. Based in Hackney Wick (East London), we build bespoke conservation and museum standard frames. Hours are flexible and we're willing to consider candidates own requirements.
We are looking for a framer who has experience in the entire framing process end-to-end, and in particular the follow aspects;
- Construction. Measuring, cutting, and joining frames. Using a Morso F mitre guillotine and Minigraf 44 underpinner, or hand pinning.
- Finishing. Applying finishes such as stained, waxed, and hand-painted styles.
- Mounting. Experience in variety of mounting techniques including window mounting (and window mat cutting using a Keencut Ultimat), different types of float mounting, and close (to edge) mounting.
- Canvas Stretching. Knowledge of how to stretch and re-stretch artworks on canvas would be desirable. Including tray framing.
We work directly with many local residents, artists, and art businesses around London. We are looking for a framer who also has good customer service skills and who can help with client consultations, handling and hanging frames, and other framing-related logistical requirements.
