Our practice list size is 15,500 patients and our multidisciplinary team consists of GPs, Practice Nurses, HCAs, Physicians Associates, Pharmacists, Care-coordinators, Advanced Clinical Practitioners and our extensive Managerial and Administrative team. We are a fully accredited training practice with 6 GPs who are trainers, and supervise PA students, Paramedic students, GP students, Foundation year 2 doctors, Nursing and Medical students. An exciting opportunity has arisen for a PCN Physician Associate to join our dynamic team within our PCN SASSE2. This patient facing role is working at the Grove Medical Centre in Egham, full time, at 37.5 hours a week. We would consider applications for a part-time role. Salary range £42,000 - £45,000, pro rata where applicable.
A Physician Associate joining our team will be supervised by a named GP at the surgery initially and have an induction period and training programme created and designed based on the applicant's experience in Primary care. . One of our Physician Associates that currently works for us we trained and now have employed and this is an example of the culture we have to support the development of our staff.
There is included study leave for this post, with additional annual BLS training, Bluestream training and Protected Learning Time each quarter. There may also be opportunity for formal learning and development to be undertaken in the form of a Msc. which could be facilitated through Surrey Training Hub. We would also encourage the development of other skills or interests that would benefit our patients and keep the experience of working at the Grove fresh and exciting.
We have employed Physician Associates for a number of years, and so are in tune with all the requirements and factors of you working for us, and you will be fully supported by the Physician Associates that work for us currently.
Main duties of the job
Deliver a high standard of patient care using clinical guidelines and promoting evidence-based practice
Provide first point of contact for patients presenting with undifferentiated, undiagnosed problems, utilising history taking, physical examination, problem-solving and clinical decision-making skills to establish a working diagnosis and management plan working in partnership with patients.
Undertake as agreed consultations for emergency or routine problems including management of long term conditions including undertaking telephone consultations/home visits
Instigate necessary invasive and non-invasive diagnostic tests or investigations and interpret findings/reports within the scope of a PAs practice. Discuss the result and implications of laboratory investigations with patients
Offer a holistic service to patients and their families, developing where appropriate an on-going plan of care/support with an emphasis on prevention and self-care.
Refer patients directly to other services or agencies using appropriate referral pathways
Work directly with members of the practice primary health care team and support integrated patient centred care through appropriate working with wider primary care.
