Denbies Wine Estate, one of England’s largest vineyards, is currently recruiting for an experienced and knowledgeable Assistant Operations Manager to manage and ensure the smooth running of the Catering Operations at Denbies Wine Estate Ltd.
The position of Assistant Operations Manager will take overall ownership of the catering operations on a shift basis.
Work with catering management team to provide high level of customer service to increase sales and profit.
Responsibilities:
- You will be part of the Catering Management team to ensure the smooth set up and delivery of events, and to manage all areas of the business including the Gallery Restaurant, Servery Restaurant, Hatch on the Lawn and Hotel Vineyard Restaurant
- To manage the running of Catering Operations and ensure that customers and clients requirements are met, and standards adhered to.
- Working in co-operation with the Conference & Banqueting team to ensure the smooth handover of all events and to allocate staff accordingly.
- To manage all areas of the business including the Gallery Restaurant, Servery Restaurant, Hatch on the Lawn and Hotel Vineyard Restaurant
- To maintain good working relationships with all departments through good communication.
- To ensure all tills and floats are correctly reconciled and any discrepancies reported to the catering manager.
Front – of – House:
- To effectively delegate all tasks down the chain of command as instructed by the catering manager and Operations Manager.
- Being a point of contact for our guests, offering support when necessary.
- Managing staff and providing them with feedback while on duty.
- Ensuring that all staff adhere to the company’s uniform standards.
- Training and motivating staff.
- To lead by example and set standards for subordinate staff
- To identify sales opportunities and encourage members of staff to ‘up sell’ whilst supporting functions and events to increase sales of Denbies products and services.
- To train and maintain a high customer care policy with staff within the catering department.
Housekeeping:
- To be a representative responsible for all general Health & Safety measure to be taken.
- Maintain or improve standards in areas of responsibility i.e. Servery Restaurant, Garden Room, Cloisters Courtyard, Ranmore Suite, Board Room, Denbies Suite, Picture Gallery, Vineyard Hotel.
- To be responsible for the security of all catering stock and report any discrepancies to the Catering Manager.
- To be a key holder and be responsible for open and close down procedures of the building.

- Proficient in using computer software and systems related to operations management.
- Knowledge of industry regulations and standards
- Attention to detail and ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
- Minimum 3 year's experience within a simillar role.
