Unique opportunity to work with an Active tetraplegic with quirks and my lovely horse passions with dressage and local showing fun agility groundwork looking for an """experienced""" equestrian to assist with all aspects of horse care. ,equine ground and possible ridden exercise, helping with equine rehabilitation outings such as clinics events, equine shopping, travel, getting on and off horse by way of hoist (full training given) Time flexibility as clinics vet appointments shows etc.
Must have basic horse care including equine first aid, anatomy, Ground schooling and basic rehabilitation knowledge, further training can be given on all aspects.
Will be predominantly AFTERNOONS!!

26hrs Above minimum wage for upto 20hrs and
HIGHER RATE 6hrs for weekend days 1 weekend day is mandatory!

Equine care
Please note I have knowledge of the below. I need assistance to carry out. So basic anatomy essential.

Ground work including 30 to 45 walking out, Polework, lateral inhand. Ground schooling using a variety of techniques.
Grooming, physical checks such as swellings, heat possible injuries.
Use of magnatherapy cold and heat therapy, equine exercises such as limb stretches, core stretches and lifts.
If riding tacking up, checking fastenings, transferring from chair to hoist training given. Motivating and confidence building bith gentle and firm approaches. Ive been there done that and id like to be able to do it all again. Correct use of any training aids of which I'm adverse to but sometimes they have a place!
Although on full livery. I do like to top up nets, skip out and top waters after all its part of the joy of having horses.
Rescuing me from places I get stuck

Personal care
Assisting with reminders for medication, tasks, fluids, liaising with medical and health team, calender entries and management, orders, bookings etc
some personal care required such as help with taking outdoor clothing on/off, checking temperature, assisting to the bathroom(rare) assisting to hospital.
Initially helping to the yard to build confidence.

Up to 26hrs weekend rate and weekday rate

I need you to have great sense of humour (trust me you'll need it) positivity and enthusiasm, be realistic in your experience, ability and commitment!!
Being dependant on you physically, emotionally and mentally is a huge trust issue for any disabled person. Each day is different for me and each day is a challenge, everyone around me is an extension we are a team and we work together for the same goals. From Vets, carers, nurses, equine podiatrist, PA groom, equine physio, human physio, equine coaches and instructors.
We all have the same goal. To get my horse and me together and doing the things we love, reaching goals having fun doing it.

Must be physically and mentally fit as needed to assist physically with my horse and of course tetraplegic as well as some yard/stable duties that involve lifting, walking distances, be able to react instantaneously as well as mentally fit as you will be assisting a brain injured disabled person, who at times will get confused, forgetful, distressed. Being able to think and act quickly be adaptable as although there is a routine sometimes stuff happens.
Be able to work independently there will be days when your on your own due to the nature of disability
This isn't just a job it's a VOCATION

I like to work hard, play hard and have fun with my horse it's what I live for and gets me up on the worst days.
Oh and just a heads up my assistance dog is just as quirky but my horse is a dream with a little added personality.

You will then be contacted to arrange a yard based interview this may not be at the place of work ie i may arrange a paid on the job day at an alternative equestrian establishment to assess suitability.

Some assistance with public transport maybe available if in my location?
Any outings using your own vehicle such as shopping, shows etc will be paid for by the employer if employment related.
