An opportunity has arisen for us to recruit a full time, Band 4 OT Rehabilitation Therapy Assistant Practitioner.
You will be part of a hard working and dedicated inpatient orthopaedic team at the City Hospital.
We are seeking enthusiastic, self-motivated and caring individuals to join our team to deliver this exciting, evolving service.
The aim of these posts is to increase rehabilitation provision to patients within the inpatient elective orthopaedic service, after patients have had their surgery.
The role would include discharge planning, functional exercise prescription and supervision and rehabilitation, early physical interventions, liaison with family and patient regarding rehabilitation goals and co-ordination of rehabilitation with multi-disciplinary team members.
Main duties of the job
Work jointly with the elective orthopaedic MDT as well as the OT team.
Treat patients as appropriate in the relevant areas
Follow rehabilitation plans set by qualified therapists
Liaise closely with registered therapists to grade and adapt activities
Use initiative to maximise rehabilitation and patient experience
Work with fellow band 4 Assistant Practitioners
Work flexibly - including weekend and extended hours rotas.
Work alongside registered therapists to develop the service in line with evidence based practice
Support the team in providing an inclusive environment and culture for learning and development.
Supervise band 3 & band 2 colleagues

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
The successful applicant will demonstrate excellent acute care and rehabilitation skills, a willingness to learn and develop further, both clinically and professionally. Expectations are you will be self-driven, passionate and dynamic. You will be working as part of large therapy team and multi-professional teams who will give support and training for you to develop in this role to reach your full potential. You will demonstrate an ability to work autonomously as well as in partnership with registered therapists and provide support colleagues. The successful candidate will demonstrate the ability to work flexibly to support the needs of the service.
The successful candidate will need to have a NVQ 3 or equivalent plus recent experience working as a Band 3 OT/Physiotherapy or generic support worker. The candidate should be able to work well as part of a team and demonstrate good communication and prioritisation skills. The candidate must be organised, flexible and adaptable and able to problem solve effectively. They must also have good IT skills and be able to manage and prioritise a case load as delegated by the registered therapists.
