Job description

We have an exciting opportunity for you to join the Bodleian Libraries as a Photographer in the Imaging Services department. We are a small but vibrant team working with many of the treasures held in the Bodleian Libraries, interacting closely with curators and other technical staff, to deliver the images produced via Digital Bodleian and our own Picture Library.
Using various imaging technologies, you will capture, process, archive and deliver images in digital formats. Material to be imaged will be primarily books and manuscripts held within the Bodleian Libraries.
You will need to exercise judgement in imaging unique items from a wide range of collections, maintaining accuracy and exercising care whilst carrying out each job. All activities will be carried out with due regard to the safety and preservation of the items being imaged. You will process the metadata of the images produced which will be permanently archived in the Imaging Services DAMS.
You will work as a team member within Imaging Services under the supervision of the Chief Photographer and Studio Manager.
This is a permanent, full-time position, working 36.5 hours per week.
This role will involve regular manual handling and lone working.
Our staff and students come from all over the world, and we proudly promote a friendly and inclusive culture. Diversity is positively encouraged, through diverse groups and champions, as well as a number of family-friendly policies, such as the right to apply for flexible working and support for staff returning from periods of extended absence, for example shared parental leave.
You will be required to upload your CV and a supporting statement/supporting evidence form as part of your online application. Your supporting statement/supporting evidence form should list each of the essential and desirable selection criteria, as listed in the job description, and explain how you meet each one.
The chair of this recruitment panel will be Elaine Anstee ([email protected]) who can be contacted with enquiries relating to the role. General queries about the recruitment and application process should be directed to the Recruitment team within our Human Resources department ([email protected])
Only applications received online by 12.00 midday (BST/GMT) on Friday 11 August 2023 can be considered. Interviews are expected to take place on Friday 25 August 2023.
