Phlebotomist Clerk, Supplemental
Join our Outpatient Lab and make a difference at VHC Health! The major duty of this role is the collection of blood specimens for Laboratory testing. The majority of patients drawn are inpatients but the staff is cross-trained to assist in other areas. In addition to phlebotomy some computer work is required.

- High School Diploma or Equivalent preferred.
- One year of Healthcare/Medical-Phlebotomy experience required.
- One year of Hospital experience preferred.
- Some Computer experience preferred.
- Competency levels of procedures on training checklist maintained and assessed yearly by supervisor.
- Assists with patients who have difficult veins in the Outpatient Laboratory.
- Works out a schedule for special timed specimens with the floor nurses.
- Ability to perform skin test and read corresponding results after 48 - 72 hours.
- Gives laboratory results to physicians' offices and nursing units when requested.
- Keeps tubes labeled and shelves stocked with equipment.
- Distributes all specimens to the individual clinical departments.
- Follows good isolation techniques on the floors.
- Keeps the Venipuncture Station, carts, and venipuncture baskets clean, neat and orderly.
- Keeps records for workload recording.
- Correctly enters information into computer.
- Pulls appropriate collection and unreceived lists.
- Answers and responds to telephone requests for specimen procurement/service.
- Informs appropriate personnel promptly when supplies and supplies of reagents are low or about to expire.
