Hours: 37.5 per week, all MKUH roles will be considered for flexible working
We are welcoming applications from suitably qualified and motivated individuals to join our Outpatient Phlebotomy Service at Milton Keynes.
The successful candidate will have a flexible approach to duties and the ability to remain calm in a busy environment. You will have had recent phlebotomy experience and are expected to complete our local competency assessments.
An essential requirement of the post is an ability to work as part of a team without direct supervision and to deal with patients in a confidential, professional, and sensitive manner.

To provide a timely and caring phlebotomy service to patients attending Outpatient clinics at Milton Keynes University Hospital.

- Perform venepuncture for patients as requested and in accordance with the policies of Milton Keynes University Hospital NHS Foundation.
- Working within the blood room in Main OPD or satellite clinic locations as may be required to maintain service.
- Mix and label these specimens with due care and attention.
- Be courteous and polite to patients at all times.
- Ensure adequate supplies of consumables and reagents are available
- Ensure samples are collected from the blood room and taken to Pathology at regular intervals for processing.
- Pathology Support Unit staff and placed in the urgent tray.
- Ensure the blood room is maintained as a clean and tidy area ensuring the safety of all user.
