Job description
Muirhouse Medical Group, a friendly and thriving GP partnership practice, situated in north west Edinburgh with over 19,200 patients, is looking for an in-house, part-time Phlebotomist, working between 15 and 30 hours a week - hours and working pattern to be discussed and agreed.
Previous phlebotomy experience and training are required, but need not necessarily have been within a GP/primary care setting.
The role involves the taking of blood tests for patients both in the surgery and at their homes, including checking identification, checking and completing laboratory request forms and identifying appropriate specimen tubes, checking equipment, drawing blood, labelling bottles, checking venepuncture site, recording tests on IT systems. The successful applicant will ensure that all such processes are in line with agreed protocols and observe hygiene and other procedures, and keep up to date with any changes in procedures and have an annual refresh of skills.
