Job Summary
We have an exciting opportunity for 2 X medical receptionists to join our friendly team in an established GP surgery in Andover. The ideal candidate will possess a compassionate manner to deliver excellent patient service and gain the desired job satisfaction and experience to take the next step in your career. Being able to deal with wide range of reception duties and answer patient enquiries with the support from our multidisciplinary team will be our ultimate aim. Duties can include but are not limited to, greeting and directing patients, effective use of the appointment and booking appointments, processing of information and assisting patients as required. To act as the central point of contact for patients, the distribution of information, messages and enquiries for the clinical team, liaising with multidisciplinary team members and external agencies such as secondary care and community service providers.
Previous experience within primary care and knowledge of EMIS Web is desirable but not essential as training will be provided.

Primary Responsibilities
The following are the core responsibilities of the receptionist. There may be on occasion, a requirement to carry out other tasks; this will be dependent upon factors such as workload and staffing levels:
1. Maintaining and monitoring the practice appointment system by navigating patient to get the most appropriate care.
2. Process personal, telephone and e-requests for appointments
3. Answer incoming phone calls, transferring calls or dealing with the callers request appropriately
4. Initiating contact with and responding to, requests from patients, team members and external agencies
5. Read code data on EMIS Web
6. Photocopy documentation as required
7. Data entry of new and temporary registrations and relevant patient information as required
8. Input data into the patient’s healthcare records as necessary
9. Direct requests for information i.e. SAR, insurance / solicitors letters and DVLA forms to the administrative team
10. Manage all queries as necessary in an efficient manner
11. Maintain a clean, tidy, effective working area at all times
12. Monitor and maintain the reception area and notice boards
13. Support all clinical staff with general tasks as requested
14. Complete opening and closing procedures in accordance with the duty rota
15. Process repeat prescriptions, ensuring they are processed accurately and efficiently
