Job Description:
We're seeking an experienced phlebotomist to work at our busy general practice in Muscliffe, Bournemouth. You'll join our friendly and dynamic nurse team consisting of 2 other phlebotomists, Health Care Assistants and Practice Nurses, in providing a caring, high quality service to our 12,500 patients as well as to patients from Moordown Medical Centre, St Albans Medical Centre and Panton Practice.
Responsibilities
Obtaining patient consent for the collection of a blood sample
Performing venepuncture in accordance with practice protocols
Maintaining accurate patient records on the clinical system
The correct labelling, packaging and storing of samples
Effective use of the specimen log, resolving any discrepancies
Ensuring samples are sent to the laboratory in a timely manner
Maintaining an effective liaison with the laboratory staff
Working collaboratively with the nursing team, seeking guidance when necessary for patient related matters
Experience/Qualifications:
Relevant qualification in venepuncture
Good standard of general education
- Excellent communication skills (written and oral)
- Clear, polite telephone manner
- Effective time management (planning and organising)
- Ability to work as a team member and autonomously
- Good interpersonal skills
- Ability to follow clinical policy and procedures
Job Type: Part-time
Part-time hours: 36 per week
Salary: £10.50-£12.00 per hour

- GCSE or equivalent (preferred)
