Job description

We are currently looking for enthusiastic and motivated individuals to fill three permanent part time posts within the Phlebotomy team at Glangwili General Hospital, Carmarthen.

The three part time Band 2 Phlebotomy posts are 15 hours per week, working Monday to Friday 8.00am to 11.00am.

Flexibility around these hours may be require at times and there is an additional requirement to participate on the Saturday, Sunday and Bank Holiday rota (these shifts will be in addition to the contracted hours and there will be extra remuneration for staff on this rota).

The successful candidates will be based at Glangwili General Hospital and will be required to undertake a wide range of duties appropriate to the Phlebotomy section but will mainly be involved with the collection of blood samples by venepuncture for analysis from the wards and Phlebotomy Out Patients Department. They will be required to be flexible to the needs of the service and undertake a wide range of duties appropriate to the section.

Four main hospitals: Bronglais General in Aberystwyth, Glangwili General in Carmarthen, Prince Philip in Llanelli and Withybush General in Haverfordwest;
Seven community hospitals: Amman Valley and Llandovery in Carmarthenshire; Tregaron, Aberaeron and Cardigan in Ceredigion; and Tenby and South Pembrokeshire Hospital Health and Social Care Resource Centre in Pembrokeshire;
48 general practices (four of which are managed practices), 47 dental practices (including three orthodontic), 99 community pharmacies, 44 general ophthalmic practices (43 providing Eye Health Examination Wales and 34 low vision services) and 17 domiciliary only providers and 11 health centres;
Numerous locations providing mental health and learning disabilities services;
Highly specialised and tertiary services commissioned by the Welsh Health Specialised Services Committee, a joint committee representing seven health boards across Wales.
