About the Role
- Working strictly in accordance with specific practice guidelines and protocols to assist the practice clinical team in the provision and delivery of prescribed programmes of patient care;
- Collecting samples of blood in accordance with training and procedures, ensuring correct storage, labelling, recording and efficient dispatching of samples;
- Ensuring that the patient is as comfortable and relaxed as possible, and confirming their agreement to the collection of a blood sample;
- Checking patient identification against GP or nurse request, and confirming with the patient whenever possible;
- Ensuring that anomalies are reported to a senior member of staff;
- Notifying the GP of any significant patient issues;
- Liaising with and assisting members of the administrative team.
About the Candidate
If you are an experienced phlebotomist looking for a new challenge, we would love to hear from you.- Minimum of a Level 2 Diploma in Health and Social Care, or equivalent qualification or experience;
- Relevant qualification and clinical knowledge and skills in venepuncture;
- Experience of working in a healthcare setting, ideally within primary care;
- Ability to record accurate clinical notes;
- Consistently confidential, compassionate and respectful approach, placing a high value on the dignity of patients, relatives, carers and colleagues;
- Ability to communicate effectively, and to understand the needs of the patient;
- Strength in problem-solving, with the ability to process information accurately and effectively, interpreting data as required;
- Flexibility and an adaptable approach;
- Commitment to ongoing professional development.
