Job description
A Phlebotomist is required to contribute to the delivery of high standards of health care to patients within a community integrated team as part of a multidisciplinary team.
The service provides 24/7 nursing and therapeutic input to patients within their own homes with the aim of returning them to maximum independence, by actively promoting self-management on all activities of daily living.
You will be responsible to carry out venepuncture and capillary blood sampling for house bound patients within the community setting.
- Collection of blood samples from patients in accordance with agreed procedures.
- To ensure samples taken from patients are correctly identified by using the labels provided on the ICE forms, or clearly writing on the label in line with requesting services guidelines as appropriate.
- Ensure that care is patient centred and confidentiality is maintained in line with Trust policy.
- To prioritise own workload and work autonomously when necessary.
- To liaise with the patients GP to provide sufficient information for ongoing primary care to be provided safely and efficiently.
