Phlebotomist – Winslow
We are a friendly, 3-site dispensing Practice in Buckinghamshire with Surgeries in Wing, Whitchurch, and Winslow. The Practice has 7 GP Partners, together with salaried GPs and ANPs. They are supported by a full complement of Nurses, HCAs, a clinical pharmacist and provide care for 20,000 patients. We are a proactive and forward-thinking Practice dedicated to providing quality patient care. In total we are a team of more than 100 staff and we consider it important to maintain a supportive team ethos. We have a CQC rating of ‘good' across all metrics, thanks to outstanding administrative support.

We an exciting opportunity for a phlebotomist to support our Practice multidisciplinary team. We welcome applications from those with primary and / or secondary care experience.
Working under the direct supervision of the Clinical Nurse Manager and strictly in accordance with specific Practice Guidelines and Protocols, the post-holder will be responsible for performing venepuncture as requested by the clinical team, to the entitled patient population.
Main tasks:
· To obtains patient consent for the collection of a blood sample
· To perform venepuncture in accordance with Practice Protocols
· To maintain accurate patient records on EMIS Web
· To ensure correct labelling, packaging, and storing of samples
· To effectively use the specimen log resolving any discrepancies
· To send samples to the laboratory in a timely manner
· To work collaboratively with the Nursing team, seeking guidance when necessary on patient-related matters
· To undertake statutory and mandatory training as required
· To maintain confidentiality of information, always acting within the terms of the Data Protection Act and Caldicott guidance
· To promote and maintain safe working practice in accordance with the Practice Health and Safety Policy
· To carry out any task deemed to be reasonable by management
