Job description
This is a fantastic opportunity for a senior construction lawyer to join Corio Generation’s rapidly growing global offshore wind business and support the transition to a low carbon, sustainable global economy.
Corio is looking for a Lead EPC Lawyer to join its Legal EPC team, primarily based in Corio’s London office on a hybrid basis.
Corio Generation's global offshore wind business is responsible for the successful management and delivery of a pipeline of 30+ GW of offshore wind projects, the origination of new opportunities and partnerships as well as the provision of asset management and advisory services to third party investors. Corio was developed under the Green Investment Group and remains a subsidiary of Macquarie Group (Australia’s largest investment bank) so we have strong financial support to drive the business forward.
The Legal EPC team advises on engineering, procurement, construction (EPC) and operations and maintenance (O&M) activities for Corio’s offshore wind farm projects. In this newly created role, you will report to the Head of Legal, EPC (who is based in Corio’s London office) and work in a dynamic, supportive and collaborative environment. As part of your role, you will (for certain periods of time) be assigned as the lead lawyer (and first point of contact) with responsibility for all EPC and O&M legal matters for one of Corio’s global portfolio projects and have responsibility for managing external lawyers involved in such work (including quality and cost control). This represents a unique and exciting opportunity to develop both your legal skills (drafting, advising and negotiation) and leadership and project management skills. Whilst you are assigned to a project, you will remain connected to Corio and Corio’s Legal EPC team.
Other responsibilities will include:
Provision of legal advice to the Procurement and O&M teams;
Drafting, negotiating and advising on DEVEX, CAPEX and OPEX contracts in the procurement, execution, and contract management phases;
Having oversight over the activities of other lawyers involved in the EPC and O&M matters for a specific project and taking responsibility for coordinating on issues and risks and aligned approaches;
Advising on claims and disputes (including liaison with external legal counsel);
Sharing knowledge and lessons learnt with other members of the Legal EPC team, and ensuring lessons learnt are captured and handled.
You will:
Be a senior construction lawyer (with at least 7 years experience), fluent in English and have work experience at a leading law firm or reputable in-house legal team;
Have significant experience in non-contentious construction matters (including standard form contracts such as FIDIC) and some experience in offshore wind DEVEX, CAPEX and OPEX contracts. Contentious construction experience is beneficial but not necessary;
Have gained or have a desire to develop your leadership and project management skills;
Have excellent legal drafting and negotiation skills and a pragmatic, solution-orientated approach;
Have excellent team-work, communication, organisational and problem-solving skills and good attention to detail;
Be enthusiastic, positive, collaborative and flexible, and motivated to progress and conclude matters despite competing demands; be willing to travel from time to time;
Be a confident user of technology (including Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint);
We would love to hear from you if you have a growth mindset, are curious and have a passion for the green transition.
We will be conducting interviews on a continuous basis, and would therefore encourage you to apply as early as possible.

Additionally, when you join, we want you to enjoy what you do and be rewarded for your contribution, so we have a range of attractive benefits on offer:
