NHS Lothian serves a population of approximately 1 million people, employs 35,000 people and is fundamentally focused on improving the health and wellbeing of the population.
The NHS Lothian Primary Care Pharmacy and Medicines Service is undergoing an ambitious programme of transformation and integration. Pharmaceutical care is provided by a team of around 45 pharmacy staff, including pharmacists, pharmacy technicians and administrators, working across General Practices and Pharmacotherapy Hubs covering the whole of West Lothian.
Partnership working is at the core of our values, and we work closely with other members of the multi-disciplinary team, including our Community Pharmacy colleagues, to deliver the highest quality care for everyone in Lothian.
Do you want to be at the forefront of transforming the delivery of pharmaceutical care? Do you want to work in an environment that values staff and supports their learning, growth and wellbeing? Do you want to work with a dynamic team who have the ambition to be “the best Pharmacy service in Scotland”?
Who you are:
You are a dynamic, highly motivated and enthusiastic, General Pharmaceutical Council registered pharmacy technician. You may have a community or hospital pharmacy background or already be working within a GP Practice. Candidates will have gained extensive post certification experience using their knowledge and skills to improve patient care and promote optimal outcomes from medicines. You will have a HNC Pharmacy Services or equivalent experience.
You should have excellent interpersonal and communication skills, and demonstrate leadership and innovation consistent with NHS Lothian's values of quality, teamwork, care and compassion, dignity and respect, and openness, honesty and responsibility. You will have experience of the management and development of others.
The post requires the ability to work predominantly autonomously, being responsible for your own outcomes, and contributing to the prescribing support team objectives. This will require self-direction, confidence and problem solving skills.
What we offer:
You will receive support from the Lead Pharmacy Technician – NHS Lothian and Lead Pharmacist – West Lothian Health and Social Care Partnership. You will work alongside experienced Advanced Clinical Pharmacists and Lead Pharmacy Technicians to oversee pharmacotherapy services and delivery of the prescribing action plan across 20 general practice sites, care homes and community hospitals. You will receive peer support from the wider Lead Pharmacy Technician team.
You will have access to a full range of benefits including generous holiday allowance, NHS pension and parental leave.
