The Medicines Management Team is a well-established team of pharmacists, technicians, and support staff with a track record in delivering outcomes. The service underpins medicines safety & evidence-based practice within the Trust by supporting physical health, mental health, & community-based services across a large geographical footprint.
We are looking for a Specialist Pharmacy Technician – Replenishment & Clinical Support Services Team Leader who is a strong and inspiring leader to work within the service. The post holder will be actively involved in leading and managing a comprehensive medicines management service to Mersey Care NHS Foundation Trust services in both acute and community-based settings across the Mersey Care footprint.
The post holder will be responsible for the day-to-day coordination and management of Medicines Replenishment & Clinical Support service delivery in line with the hours of operation. This involves optimising use of resources (both staff and materials) and monitoring activity. The post holder will have responsibility for the day-to-day management of the service and direct line management responsibility of staff.
Applicants should possess the following skills/qualifications:
- BTEC / NVQ level 3 in pharmaceutical science, or Level 3 NVQ in pharmacy service skills, or equivalent qualification
- Registered with the General Pharmaceutical Council
- BTEC / NVQ Level 4 in dispensing accuracy checking or equivalent (or willingness to work towards)
- Management experience within pharmaceutical services
- Experience of supervising/managing staff
- Knowledge & experience of pharmaceutical technical procedures & legislation within the specialist area of replenishment
- Experience of multi-disciplinary working
- Experience of staff, budget, and resource management
- Experience in change management
- Experience of working in a pharmacy
- Ability to multitask and change from one job to another frequently, working both independently and as part of a team
- Understanding of business planning and report/proposal writing
- Excellent organisational skills
- Attention to detail
- Negotiating and influencing skills
- Decision making skills
- Excellent communication skills including written, verbal and listening
- Good problem-solving skills

Our inpatient services cover a wide geographical area across a large proportion of the North-West providing specialist care including Secure Services located in Maghull health park, Whalley, Hollins Park and Rathbone site, Non-Secure Services located in Broadoak, Clock View, Hartley Hospital, Knowsley and Peasley, Hollins Park, Windsor House, Fern ward, Heys Court, Brain Injury Rehabilitation, Hope Centre and Longmoor intermediate care reablement unit.
Our inpatient services cover a wide geographical area across a large proportion of the Northwest providing specialist care including Secure Services located in Maghull health park, Clitheroe, Warrington and Liverpool; all other services are located across Southport, Sefton, north, central & south Liverpool, Knowsley, St Helens, Halton and Warrington.
The post-holder will be obliged to participate in our weekend and bank holiday rotas. Weekend/Bank Holiday opening hours are 09:30am-13:00pm and the rota is approximately 1 in 8–12-week rota depending on staffing numbers.
