Our Pharmacy Team have an exciting opportunity for an individual with previous experience or training in Pharmaceutical Sciences to join their Pharmacy Homecare Service as a Pharmacy Assistant Technical Officer
Homecare and Dispensary is a varied role which spans across a number of different work areas within the department. This is a developmental post with opportunity for further training.

The role involves a variety of pharmacy support duties, including
- Within the dispensary setting,labelling, assembling, preparing and dispensing medicines, stock control, dispensing of controlled drugs and receipt of prescriptions.
- Maintaining data and systems and records.
- Delivery of requests for pharmaceutical products across the Trust by the dispensing and issuing of prescriptions, signed orders and controlled drugs orders.

- Supporting the pharmacy homecare team with any clerical and administrative tasks.
- Communicate trust staff of all levels including staff in finance, clinical teams, and Homecare providers.
- Ensuring invoices relating to the Homecare services are processed in a timely manner in accordance with pharmacy Standard operating procedures and suppliers’ terms and conditions.
- Investigate routine queries, aid and advice as necessary to homecare companies, patients and Trust staff. Referring all complex queries to senior colleagues.
- Receive prescriptions for homecare medicines and enter details onto spreadsheet following current Standard Operating Procedures for Homecare.
- Use the Blueteq® system to check that all prescriptions have funding in place before processing and consult with clinical teams to resolve any funding issues when necessary.
- Maintain a funding spreadsheet and inform prescribers if funding is expiring and will need renewing.
- Request repeat prescriptions for homecare medicines by communicating with other departments within the trust by phone or e-mail.
- Maintain records either manual or computerised in a clearly defined filing system, which allows easy access for other users.
- To assist with Lead Homecare Technicians duties during absences.
- To undertake any other duties within reason as requested by Pharmacy homecare technician or Homecare Pharmacist.
- Ensure prompt and accurate payment of invoices as needed, escalating discrepancies where appropriate.
- To provide a variety of pharmacy support duties to the dispensary involving labelling, assembling, preparing and dispensing medicines, stock control, dispensing of controlled drugs and receipt of prescription
1. Complying with all Trust and departmental policies and standard operating procedures on a daily basis.
2. Participating in departmental rotas for weekend working.
3. Undertaking such duties as may be required to maintain a safe and effective pharmacy service.
4. Participating in audits and project work as required by medical, nursing and pharmacy staff.
5. Be committed to maintaining a high-quality service to patients.
6. Being able to deal with distressed patients and carers and being sensitive to their needs.
7. Accurately input data into the pharmacy computer system, ensuring own computer transactions are performed accurately, maintaining stock levels and quality of data.
