Job description
Working in facilities maintenance has its challenges, but here at Sherwoods, we try to ensure that our culture helps make those challenges more bearable! With our values of adaptable, committed, honest and fun at our core, we work hard to achieve high levels of employee satisfaction as well as keeping our customers happy. We want you to go to look forward to coming to work
Due to continued growth, we're now seeking a qualified Commercial Gas Engineer to be based in the Bournemouth/South Coast area who doesn't mind getting stuck into some plumbing work too. We're a reactive facilities maintenance business so no two days are the same and while we try to keep you as close to home as possible, ultimately you will get to see parts of the South West that you may never have seen before! We'll give you a van and fuel card to get around though and we help you manage your workload through the use of industry-leading software
About the job
- Carry out routine commercial gas jobs - PPM tasks, reactive works, small projects, and plumbing works - sometimes on your own and sometimes as part of the team
- Attending callouts/breakdowns on both commercial and domestic plant rooms and carrying out fault diagnosis on boilers, heating systems, and plumbing issues.
- Installation of new plant and equipment within both commercial and domestic premises
- Diagnosis and repair of faults on systems and plant within both commercial and domestic premises
- Providing materials lists and time estimates for return remedial works
- Commercial plumbing work (as well as gas)
- You will also be expected to work as part of an on-call rota to cover out-of-hours emergencies (circa 1 in 10 weeks) and there may be occasions when you'll be asked to work outside your core discipline to support other teammates
About you
- You'll be a qualified Commercial Gas Engineer with up-to-date commercial gas certifications including CCN1 and CODNC01
- We'd like you to have worked in a field-based multi-site, maintenance position before
- Be passionate about delivering a first-class service whatever the challenges
- Have personal values which resonate with ours
Our "awesome" stuff:
- Industry-leading salary and overtime at enhanced rates
- 29 days holiday, plus a day off for your work anniversary!
- 1 x paid volunteering day per year
- Cycle to Work Scheme
- Holiday buy and sell
- Enhanced maternity, paternity, and adoption pay
- Company van and fuel card
- Paid travel time over and above the first and last half hour of the day
- We’ll provide a tablet as standard, as well as a “bring your own device” policy so we'll contribute to the cost of your using your personal mobile phone
- Extensive discounts platform
- A range of medical and well-being benefits including Simply Health Cash Plan after probation
- We're passionate about supporting each other, so we'll also provide you with any training and development you need to do your job well
As our Commercial Gas Engineer, you’ll support the continued growth of the business by providing reactive and planned maintenance services in the area as well as support larger scale projects.
Hours of work are generally Monday to Friday, 08:00-16:30, but flexibility will be needed for start and finish times, out-of-hours working, and an on-call rota. We are a reactive facilities maintenance business so no two days will be the same. That means, there will be times when you'll need to work extra hours to meet our customers' needs.
Because some of the sectors we work in involve close contact with vulnerable or young people, successful applicants will be subject to an enhanced DBS check.
If you feel you have the skills and experience to become our Commercial Gas Engineer, and you’d like to work with an industry-leading company, please click “apply” now – we’d love to hear from you!
Closing date: 4th August 2023
