Chevron is accepting online applications for the position of entry-level Production and Reservoir Engineers located in:

Petroleum Engineers within Chevron are part of a multi-disciplinary team(s) which vary in make-up but can include geologists, geophysicists, facility engineers, drilling and completion engineers, and operations personnel. Petroleum engineers will develop technical skills in production engineering and reservoir engineering assignments focused on asset development planning, production operations, reserves, uncertainty and risk management and capital project development. In addition, there is a focus on building lower carbon capabilities in Carbon Capture, Utilization, and Storage (CCUS), geothermal, and hydrogen.

For recent graduates, Chevron has a competency-based employee development program that includes two to three technical assignments in the first 5 years of your career supported by combining comprehensive technical training and mentoring with on-the-job experience. Mobility is encouraged as there are many opportunities for Chevron engineers to work in a variety of assignments at different locations, both domestic and international.

As a Petroleum Engineer, you may start out at any of Chevron’s domestic upstream operations, spending your first 5-10 years in a combination of production and reservoir engineering assignments. You’ll be tasked to solve technically challenging problems with the opportunity to utilize cutting edge digital technologies and techniques. Opportunities to transfer to overseas locations may become possible after ten or more years of experience. Other opportunities for petroleum engineers include: asset team leadership, business planning and analysis, non-operated joint venture asset management, operations supervision, portfolio development, and project management.

Production Engineers are responsible for the daily management of oil and gas production operations and help to maximize profitability by utilizing data, analytics, and ingenuity to increase revenue and lower operating expenses. Typical responsibilities include: production monitoring/surveillance, evaluation and optimization of base production, asset management planning, well remediation, work over design and execution, well stimulation, production equipment design, cost estimating and budgeting, and interfacing with working interest partners, service companies and regulatory agencies.

Reservoir Engineers are responsible for the evaluation of field performance opportunities and maximizing the value of a property by analyzing data and trends in combination with powerful computer processing technologies. Typical responsibilities include reservoir simulation, asset development planning and performance predictions for well proposals, waterflood and enhanced recovery, pressure transient analysis, design and coordination of petro-physical studies, and reserves estimation for producing properties.

Required Qualifications:

  • Students completing the last year of the requirements for their Bachelors or Masters degree in Petroleum Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or related disciplines with less than two years of directly related work experience.
  • Strong academic performance in core programs, and very good communication, leadership, teamwork, and problem-solving skills.
  • This position may require driving on a routine basis.
