Dog Walker (self-employed)
Job description
This role requires the candidate to walk clients' dogs in the Cardiff area, using their own vehicle for pick ups and drop offs. Walks take place throughout the day during the week, with a degree of flexibility towards times depending on clients' needs. Weekend walks may also be available. Waggy Walks currently covers Cardiff East and Cardiff West. This role is one of a high level of trust, not only from clients but from their dogs. It is extremely rewarding, but applicants should also be aware that it can be hard work.
Candidate requirements
Essential criteria
- Use of own vehicle suitable for transportation of dogs.
- Up to date DBS check.
- Basic level of physical fitness.
- A positive work ethic.
- An excellent affinity with dogs of all breeds.
- Flexibility to meet clients' needs.
Desirable criteria
- Possess or be working towards a qualification in animal care/welfare.
- Experience in performing the role previously.
- Knowledge of the Cardiff area.
Salary
Waggy Walks Cardiff offers a range of services, and salary is determined by the work undertaken. An example of 1 hour group dog walks is given as a guide at £9.5 per dog. The indicated approximate salary is based on 9 dogs per day over 5 days and is based on current averages. Further information regarding salary is available directly from Waggy Walks Cardiff.
The successful candidate will be covered by Waggy Walks Cardiff's Public Liability Insurance and Employer's Insurance, full details of which can be provided on request.
Exclusions
The following factors will exclude applicants from being successful:
- Any convictions relating to the welfare of animals
- A driving licence which has expired, been revoked, is provisional, has restrictions or any terms applied
- Any convictions relating to honesty and integrity (e.g. Perverting the course of justice, theft, burglary)
