Job description
Hours of work, 25 - 30 per week.
I'm looking for a Personal Care Assistant to join the team of 6 PA's (rota basis between) to support employer with personal care and social activities.
Employer impairments and health conditions; Friedreichs Ataxia, Artificial Fibrillation (AF). Employer is a wheelchair user.
I deliver disability training by use of a board game Removing barriers, which I have designed and developed using my own initiative. Therefore I would need your support while delivering this training, this may involve you actually reading out in front of an audience.
About the Role Duties and Responsibilities
- Support and/or prompt with personal care. This may include toileting, showering/bathing, getting in and out of bed using celling track hoist (training can be given), getting dressed.
- Support and/or prompt with cooking/meal preparation and eating meals/drinks.
- Support and/or prompt the individual to take medication.
- Support and/or prompt to attend appointments as necessary, e.g. hospital/doctors.
- Support with food shopping.
- Support the individual to look after/care for pets (occasionally)
- Develop a good and trusting one to one working relationship.
- Support with managing paperwork & correspondence .
Other Duties include: Occasional light household duties including e.g sweeping, doing the washing, change bedding and ironing. The individuals needs may vary from day to day and your tasks may reflect this.
Driving Licence is essential, to drive employer's wheelchair accessible vehicle (WAV).
Non smoker preferred.
Basic IT skills required.

- Previous caring experience is not essential, however you should have a genuine interest in supporting people with impairments to achieve their goals.

- Be self-motivated with a willingness to get involved.

Required Training:
Successful candidates are required to undertake any training that is considered necessary and appropriate to the role. Moving and Handling Training will be provided by the employer.
