About the Employer
Weekends flexible The sessions can be delivered flexibly, times and sessions to be arranged week by week between employer and employee and can be more flexible during school holidays Can be discussed at interview I am both the mother and employer to my teenage son. We are seeking a PA to provide weekly companionship and support to encourage and allow him to access activities within the local community and support him in engaging in new experiences and building a social network outside of the family home.
The role is to befriend and assist him in developing his life skills, which in turn will promote his independence, confidence and self esteem. My son is diagnosed with severe learning difficulties and has become very isolated, spending most of his time in his room at home. He enjoys gaming and is generally quite shy in nature, however once he has developed a trusting relationship, he can be quite chatty and engaged with people close to him.
To support my son in developing his life and social skills i.e: danger awareness, using public transport, understanding money To be proactive in identifying suitable activities and venues and be willing to get involved in his choices The role is to befriend and offer companionship to my son with a view to extending his support networks
To promote and enable my son with independence and the opportunity of time with someone other than a family member My son enjoys most things associated to his age, such as going to the cinema, bowling and would welcome someone to engage and join him in accessing a gym.

About the Role
Duties and Responsibilities
- Support to get to and from school/work/college/social activities.
- Support and/or prompt the individual to access sporting and leisure activities.
- Assist and encourage socialisation, participating in activities.
- Promote and encourage friendships and independence.
- Develop a good and trusting one to one working relationship.
- Support with managing paperwork & correspondence .
• Other Duties include:
Accessing activities such as using a gym, going bowling, going to the cinema and generally being outdoors
Encouraging my son to try new things and help him engage in friendships with his peers wherever possible
The individuals needs may vary from day to day and your tasks may reflect this. You could be required to perform other duties as reasonably required.
You have a responsibility as an employee to report all accidents to the employer immediately. You have a duty to report defects and / or hazards which may give rise to an accident. You are to ensure the safety of the individual at all times.
Due to the nature of the work for which you are applying, this post is subject to a satisfactory DBS disclosure (costs will be covered).

Other skills include: Someone with a bubbly personality and ability to communicate effectively. I require someone who is committed and motivated in wanting to make a difference and improving outcomes for my son
