This vacancy is for a Personal (Care) Assistant

Vacancy Summary:
This is a full-time vacancy for a female Personal (Care) Assistant in the Ipswich area. The hours of work will be confirmed at the interview stage.

About me:
I am a lady in my 20’s that has Muscular Dystrophy and I live at home with my dad. I have many interests and these include writing, poetry and fantasy fiction. I enjoy watching films and listening to music and audio books. There will be periods of time during the working shift that I want time to myself to pursue my own interests. You will spend time within my home but when away from me, I will use my mobile phone to call when support is required.

What support I need:
The overall purpose of my support package is to assist me in having a safe, sociable, purposeful and active lifestyle, in which I remain as independent as is practically possible.

You will:
  • Adhere to the support plan designed by me and approved by HomeCareDirect. This will include a wide variety of duties in my home and in the community which will enable me to live as independently as possible and in the manner in which I wish to live.
  • Enable me to live a full and active life as much as possible. Encourage me to identify a variety of social and leisure activities that I would like to do. Assist in the planning and organising of these activities, ensuring I am as involved as possible.

About you and our requirements:
It is desirable, though not essential for applicants to have previous experience in the care sector:
  • You must be committed to providing assistance with all duties to the highest possible standard
  • You will be required to show sensitivity and consideration when working with our client
  • You are expected to be respectful of our client’s privacy and dignity
  • Enthusiasm for assisting our client to live their life to the full, as independently as possible
  • Non-smokers are preferred

It is a requirement to:
  • Complete a daily record of work in HomeCareDirect log books so that accurate and reliable information is available to HomeCareDirect about our client
  • Attend supervision sessions with a HomeCareDirect representative so you can be assessed as being safe to perform tasks in which you have been trained
  • Attend appraisal sessions with a HomeCareDirect representative so that feedback can be provided and any issues raised and discussed. Career progression and further training opportunities for personal assistants will also be discussed here
  • Comply with relevant legislation and HomeCareDirect operational policies and procedures

Drivers are preferred but this is not essential.

This post is exempt under The Equality Act 2010 Schedule 9 Part 1 - there is a genuine occupational requirement to recruit female support workers only.

An enhanced DBS disclosure is required for this vacancy (expense met by HomeCareDirect)

Week day rate - £13.50 per hour
Waking night rate - £14.00 per hour
