The job itself
A gentleman in his early 30s requires a Personal Assistant, to support him both in the home with all personal care needs and in the community to access social activities.
The gentleman has complex physical health conditions and Down’s syndrome. No hands-on medical care is required, i.e. administering medication, etc. No personal care is required, only supervision.
The gentleman is a very friendly, happy, and sociable person and would love to have a carer to support with showering 3 days a week (this can take up to 2 hours including breakfast and dressing). He would also like to have a carer to support him to go out in his wheelchair and socialise a couple of days a week and support him with his hobbies like jigsaws and arts and crafts.
He requires someone who is flexible, has a good sense of humour and is able to form a good working relationship, maximising his independence wherever possible, but always keeping him safe from harm.
DBS/Reference checks will be required for this post - Cost to be met by the local authority.
