The job itself

A young man of 27, with the condition of Epidermolysis Bullosa (EB), a generic condition that causes blistering of the skin, which can affect his eyes and eyesight is looking for a Personal Assistant for 12 hours a week.

The young man enjoys many things including music, attending concerts, films, cinema, food and eating out. He also has a passion for engineering, history, science, and space.

The hours of work and duties will be 8 hours one day for personal care, including support with changing his dressing and catheter, support when his eyesight is affected (all training will be provided to the successful candidate), washing, ironing, and cleaning. 4 hours one day for community activities, attending appointments and meal preparation. These 2 days will be fixed but will be discussed with the successful candidate, a degree of flexibility will be required to cover sickness and holiday cover.

The personal assistant will have to be outgoing, as the young man can be shy and will need someone to help bring him out of his shell. A good sense of humour is a must and having similar interests will help with caring for this young man. The young man does have a pet dog and the family also have horses.

The successful candidate will have to be a driver with use of their own vehicle and business use insurance.
