An opportunity has arisen for a carer to care for a lady who has Autistic Spectrum Disorder, hyper mobility type Ehlers Danlos Syndrome and other health conditions which affect her daily life and independence. The lady is looking for a carer to help with personal hygiene when needed, help with nutrition, hydration, and support with maintaining a clean, safe, and habitable home environment.
Hourly Rate – As self-employed, please provide rates on your application
Day & Times – 2/3 hours per week, days and times are negotiable

Job title: Self-Employed Personal Care Assistant
Location: BH1 area
Job purpose: An opportunity has arisen for a carer to care for a lady who has Autistic Spectrum Disorder, hyper mobility type Ehlers Danlos Syndrome and other health conditions which affect her daily life and independence. The lady is looking for a carer to help with personal hygiene when needed, help with nutrition, hydration, and support with maintaining a clean, safe, and habitable home environment.
About the individual:
She has nerve damage and dysfunction down both arms, degenerative disc disease, hypermobility is now recognised by rheumatologist as hypermobility type Ehlers Danlos Syndrome. The individual has a spinal cord stimulator implanted meaning she has leads from a battery into her lumbar. This restricts bending, twisting and stretching.
The lady’s home can become cluttered due to her struggling physically to complete any housework. The home environment can become overwhelming and the individual needs support to clean the home and to maintain a clean and safe environment.
The individual has three sons and two of the teenage sons live at home and they support mum with household chores, shopping, cooking, washing and dressing.
The individual has several pets living in the home, she has 1 bird, 2 dogs, cats and turtles.
Rate of pay:
As self-employed, please provide rates on your application
Hours of work: 2/3 hours per week, days and times to be discussed.
Main duties
Social duties:
§ keep in touch and socialise with family and friends.
Personal Care:
§ support from carer when needed with bathing or showering
§ support to ensure individual and her sons have food available, to plan meals, prepare healthy meals. Reduce use of take away food and convenience/ready meals. Kitchen to cleared and cleaned to be accessible. Help in batch cooking healthy meals.
Domestic duties:
§ support in organising and cleaning the home, maintaining a clean home environment.
