Job description

City & Hackney Perinatal Mental Health Team and East London Mother & Baby Unit are excited to offer an excellent opportunity for an experienced Senior Mental Health Social Worker to join the teams in a new role. This position will cover two clinical settings, with weekly contracted hours of 30 hours over 4 days per week, comprising 10.5 hours from the MBU and 19.5 hours from the outpatient service.

As a Senior Mental Health Social Worker, you will work with pregnant and postnatal women who have moderate to severe and complex mental health needs. Your role will involve developing both services to meet the long-term plan objectives and increasing access to specialist evidence-based mental health care.

Applicants for this position should hold a relevant qualification in social work with relevant post-qualification experience in either a statutory Adult Mental Health or Children’s Social Care setting.

The City & Hackney Perinatal Mental Health Team provides specialist care for women during their pregnancy and up to 24 months post-delivery. The multidisciplinary team comprises various professionals, including Administrators, Nursery Nurses, Consultant Psychiatrists, Senior Clinical Psychologists, Senior Psychotherapists, Occupational Therapy, Mental Health Nurses, and Social Workers, alongside an Operational Manager.

The Mother & Baby Unit is a Specialist Service that aims to provide mental health care for mothers and their infants. The mothers are either experiencing mental health problems antenatally or up to one year postnatally, requiring direct support to ensure safe infant care while the mother receives treatment and/or support in her recovery.

Experience working within a secondary mental health setting is preferable but non-essential, as you will be expected to take on an autonomous role and be an integral part of the wider MDT. You will support the development and delivery of expected outcomes and key performance indicators, and in return, join an evolving and exciting service that actively encourages learning opportunities..

Our mission is to make a positive difference to people's lives by improving the quality of life for all we serve. Our values are: We Care, We Respect, We are Inclusive – so we are looking for people who live and breathe these qualities when supporting service users and carers, and in their relationships with colleagues in the Trust and our partner organisations.

Kindly refer to the job description and person specification that is attached to the vacancy profile.
