Southern Health NHS Foundation Trust is currently seeking a Perinatal Community Mental Health Practitionerto join their team for a minimum of 12 weeks. The trust will consider both part time and full time candidates for this role, 2 days minimum must be worked per week. (9am – 5pm). The main purpose of this role will be to undertake comprehensive assessments, manage a complex caseload of service users, provide practical advice and support including family work, psychological interventions and overseeing any safeguarding issues – adult and child protection.

What you’ll be responsible for
· The Perinatal community practitioner is pivotal role in assessing, planning and coordinating women’s care whilst under the service; working alongside a multidisciplinary team of Psychiatrists, psychologists, occupational therapists, social worker, Nursery nurses, Peer support workers and Carers Peer support.
· Provide specialist advice/support to professionals and mothers regarding safe medication usage in pregnancy and whilst breast feeding.
· Demonstrate a commitment to offering mothers with perinatal illness choices in dealing with their illnesses including a range of therapeutic interventions e.g. Compassion focussed therapy, Emotional coping skills, Cognitive behavioural therapy, and EMDR.
· Develop and maintain clinical skills necessary for caring for women within the agreed service criteria through a variety of learning opportunities and provide evidence of clinical competence through maintaining a professional/personal portfolio.
The role will involve, but not be limited to you performing the above.
You’ll have the following qualification/experience:
· A minimum of 6 months paid experience as a Registered Nurse for a UK hospital within the last 3 years
· Comply with NMC Professional Registration and keep up to date with current nursing practices.
· Ensure accurate records are kept in accordance with CHS policy and NMC guidelines.
· Undertake regular mandatory training*
· Full UK driving licence and own vehicle.
*Depending on the Trust, you may require variable additional certification and skills.
