Job description
Are you passionate about supporting the performing arts and ensuring that all technical requirements are met?
The Henley College is seeking a talented and enthusiastic Performing Arts Technician to join our team!
As a Performing Arts Technician, you will play a crucial role in overseeing all technical requirements for our performances, including sound, lighting, set construction, and visual recordings. You will work closely with staff and students to ensure that all performances run smoothly and meet the highest standards.
Key responsibilities include rigging and operating lighting and sound systems for performances, maintaining technical equipment, providing assistance to students producing sound recordings, and setting up and de-rigging performance spaces. You will also be responsible for purchasing materials for set construction and organizing a student technical team for Enrichment productions.
To be successful in this role, you will need experience in rigging and operating stage lighting, set construction, and setting up and operating PA systems and sound desks. You should also have the flexibility to work evenings and weekends and the ability to communicate effectively with students aged 16-19.
The job will be for 3 days per week BUT as the workload is not evenly spread throughout the year, this will be variable. Any hours above this may be eligible to be claimed as TOIL. These extra hours must be approved by the appropriate line manager BEFORE they are worked. TOIL can only be taken during a period in which the absence of a technician will not have an impact on the work of the Performing Arts Department.
If you are looking for a rewarding and exciting opportunity to support the performing arts at The Henley College, please apply today!
