The opportunity


With the continued growth of our Strategy & Transactions (“SaT”) team we are seeking to hire an Operations Manager to support the SaT business specifically in relation to the people, resourcing and teaming aspect of our business. The SaT Operations Manager will work alongside our PFA Manager (finance focus) and report to the SaT Service Line Operations Director (“SLOD”).


Operations function plays a key role in supporting SaT Ireland Leadership, driving business performance and profitability and supporting and developing our people. Operations work closely with HR, finance, L&D, EY Education plus other support functions.


As a part of our team, you’ll assist with headcount planning and modelling, resource planning, resource allocation, new hire onboarding (experience hire and undergraduates), people related performance metrics, reporting, and people strategy.


Your key responsibilities


Resourcing - supply and demand management to include;


  • Partnering with team leaders to understand:
    • Demand requests and ensure fulfilment
    • Pipeline requirements
    • Upcoming capacity and action to resolve
  • Approving holiday requests in partnership with team leaders
  • Annual leave monitoring and reporting
  • Monitoring of team time charged – chargeable vs non-chargeable (deeper dive into non-chargeable)
  • Build relationships and networks within SaT UKI and cross Ireland SL’s to enable optimal resource allocation
  • Applying knowledge of people and skills (in time) to open roles (eg secondment opportunities)
  • Resolution of conflicts arising from clashes or shortages
  • In time communication with client servers for effective relationships that facilitate identification and deep understanding of their skills, aspirations, development, preferences and boundaries
  • Ensuring a DE&I lens is taken across all resourcing decisions
  • GDS usage – monitoring & reporting


Other people related management to include;


  • Helping to drive the SaT “cared for” aspect of our SaT Ambition, enhancing our SaT team employee experience
  • Drive people surveys – encouragement to participate, review of results and formulating action plans
  • New joiners – administration, assignment of counsellors and buddies
  • Leavers – administration
  • D&I reporting when required
  • Awareness of L&D - ongoing and desired learning (feeding into central L&D team)
  • Trainee population – monitoring exam status, exam success and contract terms (with EY Ed)

To qualify for the role, you must have


  • Experience of working within a professional services environment
  • Excellent communication and engagement to build relations with the senior leadership team and wider peer group
  • Self-starter who can work with minimal supervision, identifies and make recommendations for continuous improvement
  • Capable of prioritising responsibilities and able to multi-task to meet deadlines, comfortable working in a fast paced and changing environment
  • Analytical, logical and solution driven
  • Capable of adapting style in request of information or delivery of, depending on the audience
