The Post - Organisational Development Manager

Internally, this role is known as People Experience Manager

The post holder will manage an effective, People Experience function that contributes to the creation of a high performing organisation. With key accountability within the areas of Organisational Development (OD), EDI, Wellbeing, Talent Management and Employee Development, the postholder will also contribute to the delivery of the University’s strategic focus area programmes including organisational effectiveness. The role will also have responsibility for colleague engagement through the delivery of the People Priorities.

The remit will also include financial and staffing responsibility, ensuring UWS receives the best quality and value for projects and learning interventions by managing significant budget allocation. You will have direct line management responsibility for a team of currently seven professional support service colleagues across a range of specialism, including talent and Organisational Development (OD), EDI, graduate intern and Athena Swan.

The successful candidate should have the following:

  • A relevant degree or equivalent experience
  • Strategic management and leadership experience
  • Strong change management and project management experience and successfully supporting the implementation of change programmes
  • Managing and working with a senior team
  • Track record in designing and developing development programmes to drive performance
  • Experience of delivering a wide range of management development and leadership programmes to varying levels of staff
  • Coaching and influencing managers and leaders to consider the implications of their decisions on stakeholders, challenging constructively and confidently in the face of opposition
  • Assimilate evidence and ideas to identify themes and connections and gain insight on the whole issue and it’s wider implications
  • Making well-judged decisions by considering all available evidence in the context of the specific situation

You will bring effective leadership skills with an inclusive approach in managing a diverse team. You must be adept at communicating and influencing with a proven capacity to engage, motivate and empower staff as well as a proven aptitude in enabling high performance.
