Summary of Role Purpose
KPMG’s Pensions Centre of Excellence (PCoE) is an exciting new initiative with rapid growth and new opportunities which has been established to standardise the audits of defined benefit and defined contribution pension schemes, driving consistency and ensuring the delivery of high-quality audits.
We are now looking for talented and experienced Assistant Managers to join our Pensions Assurance team. You will be expected to coordinate the pensions audit delivery from planning through execution, review and to conclusion, across a broad portfolio of entities.
You will be responsible for interfacing with audited entities, audit teams and internal specialists across all of KPMG's UK offices along with our offshore team who assist with delivery of work. You will also be working with external experts and audit entity pension teams. The role will include executive level engagement interaction and exposure to a wide range of pension scheme audits, varying in size and complexity. You will also have responsibility for supervising junior team members (based in the UK and offshore locations), providing coaching and developmental support to assist them in the delivery of engagements.
Description of the Role
- Coordinating the completion of audit work and ensuring it is delivered to a high quality in accordance with KPMG Audit Methodology.
- Planning and executing audit fieldwork and statutory reporting across a portfolio of engagements.
- Project managing all aspects of the audit, including agreeing audit timelines, team briefings and supervision, and delivery of audit work.
- Budgeting and monitoring the financial performance of projects, focusing on optimising profitability.
- Identifying, researching and helping to resolve complex audit issues.
- Building relationships with the engagement staff at the audited entity and acting as an ambassador for the firm.
- Reporting to Audit Managers and Directors on all salient points arising from audits.
- Directing and overseeing the work of more junior team members, including reviewing their audit work, and providing coaching and mentoring support.
- Working on specific audit related projects across the Audit function.

- Professional qualification from a recognised accountancy body. We will also consider candidates who are exam qualified and/or nearing full qualification. (E)
