About the role:

As a PCN GP Assistant, you will work closely with our team of healthcare professionals to support the efficient functioning of our network and contribute to the delivery of exceptional patient care. Your primary responsibilities will involve providing administrative and clinical assistance to GPs and the wider primary care team, ensuring the smooth flow of operations and the highest standards of service.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide administrative support to GPs, including managing patient records, appointment scheduling, and data entry.
  • Assist in coordinating patient care, including handling referrals, prescriptions, and arranging follow-up appointments.
  • Conduct initial patient assessments, including taking vital signs, updating medical histories, and preparing patients for consultations.
  • Communicate with patients, both in-person and over the phone, to provide information, answer inquiries, and offer support.
  • Collaborate with the primary care team to ensure effective care coordination and patient management.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date electronic health records, ensuring compliance with data protection and confidentiality regulations.
  • Assist in the implementation and monitoring of quality improvement initiatives and clinical audits.
  • Support the PCN's health promotion activities by providing educational materials and organizing community events.
  • Contribute to the ongoing development and enhancement of PCN policies, protocols, and procedures.
  • Stay updated with the latest medical guidelines, protocols, and regulatory requirements relevant to primary care.

Requirements:

  • Previous experience working in a healthcare setting, preferably within primary care.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology and basic clinical procedures.
  • Strong organisational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritise tasks effectively.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with a compassionate and patient-centered approach.
  • Proficiency in using electronic medical record systems and other relevant software applications.
  • Ability to work well within a team and collaborate with multidisciplinary professionals.
  • Commitment to maintaining patient confidentiality and adhering to data protection regulations.
  • Flexibility and adaptability to meet the evolving needs of the PCN.
