Job description
United Living Group is a business that’s really going places. We are a private equity-backed company with growth aspirations which will see our turnover hit £1 billion within the next 5 years. We have recently established a Finance Shared Services Centre in Widnes, and are looking for a Payroll Assistant to join our growing team. This is a fantastic opportunity for somebody who is looking to kick-start their career in finance within a well-established and thriving organisation, where you will be supported to further develop your skills and career as part of a newly established team.
As Payroll Assistant, you will support our Payroll Manager in the weekly, monthly and annual payroll routines, and will support the Group Financial Controller in the departments’ administrative duties. With a primary focus on the weekly in-house payroll, you will ensure the accurate delivery of information and will ensure it is stored appropriately in line with confidentiality measures. Day to day, your role will involve:
- Assisting in the maintenance of all payroll records.
- Processing timesheets for our weekly-paid Operatives and updating records accordingly, including recording holiday and absences and calculating bonuses.
- Assisting with the transfer of salaries monthly by BACs and making other payments by cheque as necessary.
- Processing travel and other expense claims for payment, and analysing expenditure for updating accounts in the general ledger.
- Inputting salary and wages cashbook journals in the general ledger.
- Assisting in the preparation of monthly payroll as required.
The successful applicant to the role of Payroll Assistant will be a proactive team player who will complement our existing Finance Team. You will have a natural eye for detail and will work accurately and efficiently to ensure the smooth-running of the weekly payroll process. In addition, you will possess high levels and numeracy and literacy with strong IT skills, particularly in the use of MS Excel and Word. Previous sector experience is not essential, although previous experience of working in a payroll function within the construction sector would be beneficial.
If you want to kick-start your career within a thriving business where your skills will be developed and you’ll gain exposure to the wider workings of a finance team, this is a great opportunity for you. Apply now for immediate interview.
