Job description
We are looking for experienced bookkeeper and payroll assistant to work in a small, friendly accountancy practice in Street Somerset.
Knowledge of Xero and Brightpay payroll is essential.
Practice Experience would be a huge advantage as the we deal with a wide range of clients; Companies, Sole Traders and Partnerships. The ideal candidate must be able to take ownership of work have an excellent work ethic and be trustworthy.
Bookkeeping
- Processed using Xero accounting software
- Sales and Purchase Ledger
- Bank and Credit card reconciliation
- Submitting VAT & CIS returns
- Posting Journals
- Reconciling control accounts
- Preparing management accounts
- Preparing year end file for our accountants
Payroll
- Processed using Brightpay software
- Weekly, Fortnightly and Monthly payrolls
- Liaising with clients where necessary to obtain the required information
- Calculating PAYE, NI SSP & SMP
- Dealing with all aspects of Auto Enrolment
- Monthly CIS filings
- Dealing with starters and leavers
- Calculating Holiday pay for casual staff
- Payroll Journals into client software
- Year end processing and control account checks
Hours Permanent - minimum of 25 hours per week
Salary from £11.00 per hour
Experience
- Bookkeeping & Payroll - 2 years (preferred)
- Xero - 1 year (preferred)

Location
- Office Based in Street, Somerset
- Candidates need to be aware that we do sometimes have a friendly dog staying in the office
