Payments Officer
Glasgow
As a Barclays Payments Officer, you will work within Global Payments, which is a utility service that provides payments processing, monitoring, analysis, and investigation services across the Barclays group. You will process transactions adhering to quality control disciplines and procedures, and establish effective and efficient processes for the business, including referrals by operatives and customers both within and outside of the department.

We are currently in the early stages of implementing a hybrid working environment, which means that many colleagues spend part of their working hours at home and part in the office, depending on the nature of the role they are in. What will you be doing?
• Identifying, analyzing, and resolving/implementing processing issues to prevent re-occurrence, reducing loss to the business
- Providing support and cover in terms of process management to other analysts as required ensuring effective team working across the operation as required
- Maintaining and developing up to date process and systems knowledge
- Resolving contentious customer enquiries ensuring good customer service is maintained, escalating where appropriate
- Promoting and continually supporting Barclays’ commitment to continual improvement and idea generation
- Assisting with demonstrations to visiting customers from Financial Institutions both external and internal of work processes
- Investigating and implementing the most effective and efficient solutions to complex risk issues referred by operatives and customers both within and outside the department
- Implementing solutions for improvements relating to errors from on and offshore teams
• Previous experience of working in a customer-servicing environment is desirable, to enable the jobholder to understand the types of issues and problems which occur
- Comprehensive knowledge of products and systems within the area as well as proven experience in financial or accountancy environment
- Proven experience in an Operational and Audit environment
- Ability to be flexible to support other analysts along with the ability to complete or advise on completion of high volume routine/non-routine tasks and prioritise accordingly
Skills that will help you in the role
• Previous experience of working in a Sales Finance environment is desirable, to enable the jobholder to know the workings of the different products
- Knowledge of the LEAN principles and application
