About the Role
The Graphic Designer is a hands-on contributor who will touch all aspects of the Shaka Tea brand. You will be expected to become the brand steward, ensuring that all creative collateral is on brand, no matter where it is placed. The Graphic Designer is responsible for creating and curating effective, on-brand, and on-strategy creative across several different mediums and applications, including social media graphics and other digital advertising assets, product graphics and product packaging, print assets, website UI/UX, and more. The Graphic Designer will work closely with the Marketing Director and Associate Brand Manager to ensure all collateral is developed and implemented in accordance with the company’s marketing objectives. This role may also require coordination and collaboration with an external creative agency, as needed.
Core responsibilities and duties will include the following:
- Understand and demonstrate (and in some cases help augment) overall brand creative design so that it can be applied to various assets;
- Follow and maintain brand guidelines so all assets have the desired look and feel;
- Steward the brand, ensuring that all creative collateral and copywriting is consistent with the brand and delivers an engaging, cohesive brand experience across all consumer touchpoints;
- Work with the Director of Marketing, Associate Brand Manager, and omnichannel team to design and implement branded content for digital, website, e-mail, social media, and print;
- Concept and implement creative for organic social media (including, but not limited to graphic design and animation/illustration), other digital media assets (such as email, landing pages, banners, and graphics), and print collateral (for example event/tradeshow collateral, merchandise, POS, and sales sheets);
- Work with Associate Brand Manager to develop simple copywriting for organic social media and other digital media assets for non-tentpole campaigns;
- Lead product and lifestyle photo shoots for digital advertising campaigns, e-commerce needs, and innovation projects;
- Photo and basic video editing;
- Develop packaging designs and mockups. Build 3D product renders from artwork mechanicals and/or photographed product; and
- Build additional assets as needed for other departments within the company (presentation decks, infographics, etc.).
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in digital design, graphic design, or graphic communication;
- 2-3 years of graphic design experience, including packaging design, collateral, POS, trade marketing, and merchandise;
- Understanding of marketing, production, website design, corporate identity, product packaging, advertisements, and multimedia design;
- Excellent design judgment with a strong understanding of print processes, dielines, typography, layout, messaging hierarchy, and color theory;
- Experience in crafting creative native to digital (social media, ecommerce, e-mail);
- High proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator, InDesign, and Photoshop) and PowerPoint;
- Ability to communicate successfully across all levels; and
- Able to keep up with a fast-paced work environment.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Proficient in video editing;
- Animation experience is a plus;
- Strong copywriting skills are a plus;
- Food photography skills are a plus;
- Experience with email and web design; and
- Experience designing product packaging, developing artwork mechanicals, and converting artwork mechanicals into 3D product renders.
Location:
Remote, however, strong preference for candidates based in Hawai’i or from Hawai'i living in the continental U.S. or Southern California.
