The Payment and Collections Advisor will liaise directly with customers and clients to agree and monitor payment arrangements ensuring that customers stay on track with payments advising where reassessment is required.

The successful candidate will deliver high standards of customer service, dispute resolution and repayment negotiations. They will handle objections relating to overdue accounts being confident to explain the reasons to customers whilst ensuring they are treated fairly and consistently.

The Payments and Collections Advisor will work closely with wider Operational teams to expand the uptake of our preferred payment methods. They will liaise with external debt collection agencies ensuring that best practice is adhered to and responding in a timely fashion to resulting queries and updating customer accounts.


What will you be doing?


  • Reviewing customer consumption vs payments on a regular basis, and making recommendations for required changes.
  • Supporting in the planning and administration of communications to customers and clients.
  • Managing payment exceptions and failures and dealing with related customer queries
  • Reporting on payment performance•
  • Working compliantly, adhering to guidelines set by or relating to GDPR, OFGEM, OFWAT & OFCOM

What does good look like?


  • Experience in a Collections/Payments function in utility sector - cross utility advantageous
  • Familiarity with Stripe/Direct Debit and BACS payment methods
  • Strong resilience and negotiation skills
  • Experience of interfacing with Debt Collection Agencies
  • Confident and friendly; motivated to help customers fix problems
  • Goal orientated
