Patient Information Officer Edinburgh, Scotland

Myeloma UK
Full Time Edinburgh, Scotland 27583 - 30063 GBP ANNUAL Today
Job description

About you

This role is ideally suited to someone who wants to use their medical or life sciences background to develop clear information to help those affected by myeloma.

We’re looking for someone with an eye for detail who can research topics and simplify complex scientific and medical information into accessible and patient-friendly language.

If you understand the power of good information, have excellent research, writing, editing, and proofing skills, and the desire to support and inform people living with cancer, we’re keen to hear from you.

Experience in writing healthcare information materials, developing content for information events and general health and cancer knowledge would be an advantage for this role.

However, we are happy to consider candidates with different experiences of writing and producing content, which may include university, voluntary or personal experiences, and graduates earlier in their career are welcome to apply.

About the role

We believe that information is key for people to be able to understand their diagnosis and make decisions to play an active role in their treatment and care. This vital service is provided by the Patient Information team at Myeloma UK, who ensure complex medical and scientific language is translated into clear and concise information for a patient audience.

The role of the Patient Information Officer is to maintain and develop reliable and trustworthy printed and online information (written and audio/visual) on myeloma and its related conditions for patients, their family, and carers.

About us

Myeloma UK is the only organisation in the UK dealing exclusively with the blood cancer myeloma and related conditions. We are committed to bringing together the best and brightest people to help us ensure that every patient has an empowered present and a hopeful future.

Our ultimate goal is to find a cure and make myeloma history. Until then, our mission is to help every patient live well with myeloma for as long as possible. We are committed to diagnosing myeloma earlier, discovering and sharing knowledge, transforming the patient experience and influencing positive change in care.
