Patient Care Tech

Full time

Basic Purpose: Provides direct and indirect patient care in individual patient care setting, consistent with the nursing departments standards of care. Meets the communication needs of patient/family, departmental staff and medical staff. Demonstrates basic computer knowledge. Prepares and compiles medical records. Initiates directions from physician and nursing staff. Participates in performance improvement activities. Maintains regulatory agency requirements, nursing and hospital policies, procedures and standards. Demonstrates performance consistent with the mission, philosophy and goals of the unit and organization; remains flexible to changing systems; is expected to demonstrate quality and effectiveness in work habits; and treats staff, physicians and families with consideration and respect. Will cross train as Monitor Tech.

Qualifications

Education: High school graduate or GED

Licensure: N/A

Experience: Preferred but not required

Special Skills: Phone Etiquette; Fax skills; basic typing and keyboarding skills

Language/Communication/Organizational Skills: Ability to speak effectively and professionally to staff, management and outside individuals

Mathematical Skills: Must be able to apply basic math skills

Reasoning Ability: Must have the ability to apply non-judgmental reasoning capabilities whenever necessary when dealing with patients, staff, visitors, and other employees

Work Environment

Physical Demands: Able to sit, stand; talk, hear alarms; use hands and fingers to feel and touch; push; pull; crouch or crawl; stoop; kneel; reach with hands and arms, taste and smell. May be required to exert up to 50-lbs force occasionally, and/or up to 20-lbs frequently, and/or up to 10-lbs constantly. This job has vision and the ability to judge depth perception.
