A new and exciting opportunity has arisen for a Pastoral Support Worker to work within our expanding Risk, Governance and Education Team for maternity services at Sandwell and West Birmingham NHS (SWBH) Trust.

The primary role of the Pastoral Support Worker is to support staff who are undertaking the Maternity Support Worker apprenticeship. The successful candidate will be required to work as part of a team but also autonomously managing their own diary. This will ensure safe provision of care for our women and families. The post-holder will provide leadership within the MSW team and nurture our culture of supportive learning.
The post-holder will be expected to:
- To facilitate the implementation of pastoral support for staff employed by the Trust and facilitate the development of employment support skills in managers and teams.
- To role model compassionate and inclusive leadership in order to shape the creation of a collective leadership culture within the Trust.
- To provide and/or facilitate individual support, and mentorship within the scope of personal and social responsibility, employment skills and social welfare situations.
- To support the Education Team to ensure the provision and co-ordination of efficient and effective support for the service on a Trustwide basis.
Our new acute hospital, the Midland Metropolitan University Hospital (MMUH), opens in 2024 and will provide care to our local population from first class, purpose-built premises. As a result, the base of this role may change to MMUH from 2024 (or beyond). If this is applicable to your role, you will be informed during the recruitment process and continuing your application with this understanding. The development of the new hospital will play an important role in the regeneration of the wider area and in improving the lives of local people and reducing health inequalities.
