We have a 3 new opportunities available for a Pastoral Officer's to join our team based in Derby, Wolverhampton and Brierley Hill. You will join us on a full-time basisand in return, you will receive a competitive salary of £20,000 - £25,000 per annum.

The Pastoral Officer Role:
You will safeguard the welfare of all students, preventing radicalisation and promoting British Values as well as ensure that safeguarding reports are up to date and accurate.
You will ensure the Centre meets targets for student attendance, by ensuring robust interventions are in place and followed that lead to improving attendance and behaviour and be the Centre Safeguarding Lead and ensure procedures followed and staff & students are supported.
You will also make referrals to the Counsellor/external agencies in order for students to receive further support.
Key responsibilities as our Pastoral Officer:
- To have an in-depth understanding of Government legislation on Safeguarding and Prevent, including “Keeping Children Safe in Education” and “Working Together to Safeguard Children”.
- Keeping abreast of developments and understanding the latest information on data protection, confidentiality and other legal issues
- To maintain and update Juniper’s on-line Safeguarding database
- To participate in meetings with external agencies, where appropriate.
- To signpost & coordinate support from external support agencies.
- Be skilful in monitoring and championing students with a wide range of different abilities and needs
- To promote a culture of high expectations and achieve student attendance targets
- To monitor student attendance
- Holding meetings with parents/guardians/stakeholders and conducting home visits
- To ensure targets are set and documented with individual students.
- To celebrate and recognise those students with excellent attendance.
- To know and understand where to access local and national support agencies
- To signpost and refer students who need support and document this, as per procedure.
- To support centre staff in ensuring all students progress to a positive destination.
- Undertake networking & marketing activities, including social media.
- Undertake tracking of students who have left programme and provide on-going support.
As our Pastoral Officer you will need:
- Level 2 English and Maths
- A robust knowledge of Safeguarding legislation
- L3 safeguarding training
- To persuade & influence others and deal with conflict/challenging behaviour
- To remain positive, with a bubbly, engaging personality
- To work on own initiative
- Able to build a rapport with target group but also communicate professionally
Desirable:
- CEIAG Level 3/4
- Experience of working in Education/Training
- Of working with 16 – 18 year olds
