The role
The Sales Assistant builds a following of loyal customers, acting as a consultant as opposed to a clerk. This means that in addition to following up with customers promptly and appropriately, the Sales Assistant works to establish a rapport that allows them to determine all of their customers’ needs in order to present the appropriate product to meet those needs.
Key responsibilities and duties
Sales Generation
- Understand key company and personal KPI’s actively seeking to exceed or meet them.
- Proactively build company and product knowledge to demonstrate understanding to the customer.
- After closing a sale, monitor all details including shipping, alterations (if applicable) and special requests to ensure customer satisfaction.
- Continuously enhance sales techniques to drive sales.
- Comply with all sales related policies and procedures.
- Take ownership of your role and work to support the store team to achieve goals.
- Maintain a keen interest in the fashion industry and market trends.
- Undertake daily tasks as required by the store management team.
Customer Service
- Continuously strive to provide the highest level of customer service.
- Handle customer enquiries quickly and efficiently and escalate to management where appropriate.
- Build and maintain client book
- Ensure that all new clients information is captured correctly in the POS system.
- Resolve all client problems and complaints quickly and effectively, ensuring client satisfaction.
Operations
- Keep selling floor and product neat, organised and stocked.
- Assist in the maintenance of all inventory in the stockroom and on the selling floor.
- Assist in all areas of stock, shipping, receiving protocol/policies and all shipping/ receiving related paperwork.
- Participate in inventories.
- Comply with all Point-of-Sale policies and procedures.
- Properly execute all relevant register functions.
- Ensure image and grooming standards are professional and reflective of the brand image, at all times.
- Adhere to work schedule, inclusive of time and attendance.
- Participate in all relevant training and development seminars, programs and meetings as directed by store management.
- Help monitor store security through vigilant customer service and consistent application of store changing room procedures and tagging.
- Adhere to all internal audit processes and procedures.
Key skills and experience
- Experience of working in a similar position for a premium or luxury brand.
- Experience of developing customer rapport to drive sales.
- Dynamic interpersonal and communications skills both verbal and written.
- Proactive, able to motivate one’s self to meet company expectations.
- Exceptional time management skills.
- Demonstrable relationship building skills, able to collaborate and motivate peers.
