We believe that for people who end up in prison, it should be the start of somewhere better – not a road to nowhere. We don’t just talk about positive social change at Nacro. We do it every day: challenging unfairness, breaking down barriers, and giving some of the most vulnerable people the best chance at a second chance.
Do you want a career that makes a real difference to peoples’ lives? Do you want to work for an organisation that will invest in your personal development?
You’ve come to the right place! Join our new team of Remote Support Officers across the Midlands.
The role
Working in close partnership with the Probation Service, you’ll conduct time-bound telephone assessments with adult males to identify their support needs and agree with them a tailored action plan. This may include the provision of support to end or sustain a tenancy, find accommodation or basic budgeting advice and liaison with other agencies. You’ll accurately record this information on our case management system before providing a comprehensive handover to the delivery team to progress the action plan with the Service User.
You will also conduct desk-based research to build knowledge of local support provision across the East and West Midlands.
There is also opportunity within this role to support the delivery of our Criminal Record Support Service, providing advice and guidance to members of the public and people in custody via telephone or email.
Who are we looking for?
You will need to be a great communicator, enjoy working in a busy people-centred role, organised and solution focussed. The right candidate can engage others and is non-judgmental. You will bring with you integrity, a proactive attitude, excellent ICT skills (MS Office including excel) and the ability to accurately record information on custom databases.
Our ideal candidate will have experience of working in the criminal justice sector and some knowledge of homelessness legislation however, we will provide you with the relevant training and support required for the job.
If you want to work as part of a dynamic supportive team who delivers results for the people we support every day, Nacro could be the place for you.
At Nacro, we believe in the power of a diverse and inclusive team. We welcome applications from people of all backgrounds, including those with criminal records and those with first-hand experience of the criminal justice system. All applications are assessed on merit.
