The opportunity:
Strong, friendly, outgoing and enthusiastic Horticultural Sales Advisor wanted to work in our brand new location in West London. Good working knowledge of Indoor plants and how to care for them alongside strong customer service skills are a prerequisite for this role.
Must be well presented, outgoing and friendly, able to quickly build a good rapport with customers and have a great passion for horticulture. A relevant horticulture qualification or previous experience in a retail garden centre would be an advantage but not essential.
Training and support will be given in order to develop or acquire the knowledge to assist our extensive and varied customer base.
Working hours will include weekends and Bank Holidays as required.
We are looking for a part-time applicant, 20 hours per week, Mon - Fri, 4 hours shifts between the hours of 10 am - 5 pm (hours are flexible and subject to change).
You will be based in The Nunhead Gardener Mayfair Store, situated in Mercato Metropolitano, open daily from 12.00 pm to 9.00 pm. You may also be called upon to work in any of our other stores in Nunhead, Camberwell and Elephant Park, opening hours vary.
Responsibilities:
You will support the Management in the daily operations of the store which include but are not limited to;
Customer service and sales - engaging customers proactively and promoting the highest standards of customer care and service
- Advising customers on plant choice and care and with general queries
- Creating and maintaining attractive plant and homeware displays as directed by the Visual Merchandiser
- A good working knowledge of Houseplants and their care requirements is a prerequisite for this role
- Assist in maintaining a high level of creative visual merchandising throughout the store
- Receiving and processing weekly deliveries of pots, compost and plants
- Keeping the shop clean & tidy
- Ensuring the retail space is presentable and safe for customers
- Stock management including watering and care of plants
- Any other ad hoc duties as requested by the management
- You will work quickly, decisively and always with clear goals in mind.
- You will be organised, self-motivated and responsible, taking ownership of your projects. You will enjoy collaborating with others.
Experience, Skills and Traits Required:
Good indoor plant knowledge, further training will be provided
- Possess a good knowledge of plant pests and the appropriate remedies
- Be confident, friendly, outgoing and enthusiastic
- Prior experience in plant-based businesses
- You will be passionate about delivering exceptional levels of customer service
- You will be obsessively organised, tidy and have an eye for detail
- You will be flexible in your approach and open to trying new things
- You will possess excellent interpersonal skills
- You will be honest, open and operate with integrity
- You’ll get excited about learning new things and sharing your knowledge with others
- You will have a love of plants and all things related to gardening
