Overall Purpose of Job
To assist customers attending the car pound for vehicle collection, and ensuring that the service they receive is in line with legal and council policies and procedures.
Proactively deal with customer requests, car pound devices, and Council requests
Be responsible for the organisation of all vehicles within the car pound, including maintaining an accurate car pound log, assisting with the scrap and auction process, and monitoring the activities of the tow trucks.
Job Context
The post holder reports to the Enforcement Team Leader
1. The post holder has no line management responsibility.
2. The post holder has no budget responsibility.
3. The post holder will be required to work evenings, weekends and public holidays in order to meet service requirements, and may also be required to work over-night.
4. The post holder will be required to wear a uniform and to ensure that all staff adhere to this dress code.
Key Tasks and Accountabilities:

6. Ensure that the car pound log is consistently accurate, and updated as vehicles enter and leave the car pound
7. Allocate vehicles bought into car pound to specified bays
8. Able to handle large amount of money whist serving customers in line with legal and Council financial requirements.
9. Fill out damage reports for vehicles bought into car pound
10. Ensuring all vehicles are recorded for when entering and leaving the car pound.
11. Ensuring all outstanding penalties have been charged correctly
12. To seize disabled badges as requested
13. Assist in escorting members of the public to retrieve their vehicles within the car pound
14. Assist the senior pound operative with facilitating the car pound scrappage and auction process
15. Monitor activities of the tow trucks and report any issues as necessary
16. Maintain cleanliness and tidiness of car pound, reporting all health and safety issues as required
17. Maintain the highest standard of personal hygiene and appearance at all times ensuring uniform is clean and smart in appearance when on duty
18. Communicate in a professional and courteous manner at all times
19. Complete the relevant documentation in accordance with council policies and procedures
20. Complete the specified training programme as part of your day-to-day duties
21. Be aware of legislative and other changes that may affect the pound service
22. To have direct customer interaction, dealing with complex issues either face-to-face, over the phone or via email or post. Providing excellent customer service is at the heart of this post and the post holder will be expected to deliver effective, efficient and very high standard of customer care.
23. Contribute to corporate initiatives as required
24. Undertake any other duties consistent with the nature and grade of the post as necessary or as requested
25. All staff will participate in a weekly rota of 5 days over a seven day working week.
