ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITES
The following are the core responsibilities of the Paramedic Practitioner. There may be, on occasion, a requirement to carry out other tasks; this will be dependent upon factors such as workload and staffing levels.
- Pre-triage econsults and same day access
- Allocations/workflowing of patients to the correct clinician in the correct time frame
- Consulting with patients either F2F, by phone or by econsult
- Supporting the duty doctor with medical complexity
- Supporting reception with care navigation
- Good communication with the team and patient
- Good use of IT systems- EMIS/Docmail/econsult/AccuRx
- Home visits
- Support mentoring and supervision of students/colleagues/other health professionals as appropriate within skill set.
Applicants need to have completed their two-year ‘Consolidation of Learning’ period as a “newly qualified paramedic” and have a further three years’ experience as a AFC Band 6 (or equivalent) paramedic. In addition, they need to be working towards developing academic Level 7 capability in paramedic areas of practice and, within six months of commencement of reimbursement for that individual, have completed and been signed off formally within the clinical competencies of the FCP Roadmap.
